In late October, White stunned Dobrev by proposing at the Golden Swan restaurant in New York City. Shaun White is demonstrating the events behind his unexpected proposal to Nina Dobrev.
Behind-the-scenes photos of the proposal at the Golden Swan restaurant in New York City in late October, as well as their celebration with family and friends thereafter, were posted on Instagram by the 36-year-old Olympic snowboarder.
Shaun White’s proposal to Nina Dobrev
The Vampire Diaries actress’s startled expression as she arrived at the scene was shown in the opening image of his video. White then proposed to her in front of a white rose archway with white petals all over the floor.
Shaun White can be heard saying, “I love you,” and “Being with you is the adventure of my life” to an emotional Dobrev, 34, in the video. When he eventually drops to one knee and asks her, “Will you marry me?” she can be seen crying.
As the sportsman got up to give her a hug and a kiss, the actress nodded her head and replied, “Yes.” After acknowledging that he “forgot” to put the ring on her finger, Shaun White dropped back on his knee. She said, “Oh yeah!” before they both started laughing. He kissed her hand and put on the ring as the video came to a close.
Before their relatives and friends arrived at the restaurant, the couple, who started dating in 2019, popped some champagne. As their relatives applauded and praised them, Shaun threw white flowers into the air.
“Our romance during quarantine blossomed into a lovely partnership that is now a lifelong one. This app mostly displays us at our best, so trust me when I say that,” Shaun White added.
Dobrev gave Vogue further information on the engagement, stating that the Olympian had his publicist email Dobrev a fictitious invitation to a private dinner hosted by the CFDA and Vogue with Anna Wintour. But rather than Wintour, she discovered White prepared to pop the question. She remembered telling the publication, “He said all the right things.”
White first announced the good news on Instagram, captioning a set of pictures taken after she said “yes,” “She said YES.”
On Instagram, Dobrev reposted the identical images with the caption, “Hello fiancé, RIP boyfriend.”
