The Tuesday disaster happened in the Alps above 3,000 meters (9,800 feet) in difficult weather. While transporting sixteen workers, a construction-related cable car cabin collided with the arrival station.

The injured were evacuated by emergency services, including high-mountain rescue teams. The season in Val Thorens, which is well-known for its high-altitude skiing, will begin on November 23.
